Ariana Grande and Childish Gambino to headline Coachella festival (Reports)


Ariana Grande says she is “humbled and excited” after being picked to headline the Coachella festival in April.

Childish Gambino and Tame Impala will also be centre stage.

Held over two weekends in Indio, California, the event often attracts big names, with Beyonce the main attraction last year. Guns N’ Roses, Lady Gaga and Drake have also performed.

Organisers say it attracted 250,000 people in 2017.

Grande tweeted: “Humbled and excited as all hell – thank u,” adding an emoji of a cactus, referencing the desert city where the bash takes place.

Childish Gambino, AKA Donald Glover, is set to perform on both Fridays, Australian rock band Tame Impala will appear on the two Saturdays and Grande will sing on both Sundays.

Kanye West was reportedly in negotiations to headline before talks broke down over disagreements about the stage.

British band The 1975 are also scheduled to play this year’s festival, along with DJ Snake, Diplo, Ella Mai, Jaden Smith, Solange, Weezer, Wiz Khalifa, Khalid, Zedd, Pusha T, Kid Cudi and Janelle Monae.

The festival is held on 12-14 and 19-21 April, and tickets go on sale on Friday.
